Chapter 1 : A Review Of Educational Technology 1

WHAT IS EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY?
§  Also called Learning Technology
§  The study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes and resources.
§  Includes other systems used in the process of developing human capability.
§  Educational Technology is concerned with the development, application, and evaluation of system, techniques and aids to improve the process of human learning.

Technology in Education
§  An impression of audiovisual aids consisting of hardware and software appropriately used as teaching materials.

Technology of Education
§  Its main thrust is to develop electronic and optical equipment for educational purposes that will led to change in thinking in all aspects of teaching designs and learning environment.

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY 1
The Educational Technology 1 has truly paved the way for the learner to become aware, appreciate and equipped to use educational technology tools ranging from traditional to modern educational media. The learner was also oriented towards averting the dangers of dehumanization which technology brings into societies, such as through ideological propaganda, pornography, financial fraud, and other exploitative use of technology. These dangers continue to affect people and cultures while widening the gap between rich and poor countries.

Educational Technology 1 Objectives
Educational Technology 1 served:
§  To orient the learner to the pervasiveness of educational technology.
§  To lend familiarization on how educational technology can be utilized as the media for the avenues teaching-learning process in the school.
§  To uplift the learner human learning through the use of technology.
§  To impart skills in planning, designing, using and evaluating the technology-enriched teaching learning process.
§  To acquaint learners on basic aspects of community education, functions of the school media center.
§  To introduce the leaner to what is recognized as the third revolution in education… the COMPUTER.
